Introduction

Shegaon is a town in the Buldhana District of Maharashtra. It is well known for Shri. Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple. Appearance (Prakat din) of Shri Gajanan Maharaj in Shegaon on 23 February 1878. Shegaon is also known as the Pandharpur of Vidarbha. Shri Gajanan Maharaj took Mahasamadhi (a saint's conscious departure from the mortal body) on 8 September 1910, and at the same place, a temple has now been built.

Temple and surrounding areas are so clean, Quiet, Relaxing, and feel full of Positive energy. I wonder, when I saw the discipline and Kindness of the temple Sansthan people, they are always helpful and soft spoken with pilgrims and calling them (Mauli). This quality makes it unique to Shri. Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple.

Shri Pragat Sthal:

Shri Gajanan Maharaj was first seen in Shegaon under this giant tree on 23rd February 1878. The place where Shree appeared belonged to Shri Mote’s Haweli (Mansion). Later, Shri Mote generously merged this place into Sansthan. The memorial built here by Sansthan is known as ‘Shree Pragat Sthal.

Shri Bankat Sadan:

Shree blessed his loyal devotee Bankatlal and enabled him to notice Shree’s appearance in Shegaon. ‘Shree’ resided here and gave the experiences of his incarnate life to many fortunate devotees in the same place.

This holy place, ‘Bankat Sadan’, was later handed over to the Sansthan by descendants of Bankatlalji. To maintain the spirituality of this holy place, the Sansthan built ‘Smriti Bhavan’, which is named ‘Bankat Sadan.’
